This page is intended as a repository for those Combat Actions which have preferably been tested and proven.
Close to Melee (Engage)
A character who is capable of advancing to contact an opponent within half his move distance may use a Close to Melee action. A specific enemy (the target) must be selected who must not be armed with a 1H or 2H Spear such as a Bill or Short Spear nor any other weapon which can be ‘Set for Charge’. The target does not receive a Reaction Free Attack for being adjacent to an enemy. The character moves up to half his normal distance and must end in contact with the enemy (the target), triggering Reactions as normal, and immediately makes a Close Combat attack. A close to melee does not allow the use of a Flurry.
Reason: The existing combat actions do not allow any close into combat other than via a charge, enabling an opponent to get up to 5 attacks before an "attacker" can hit, rapidly stifling games.
