Spell Wounds

What do you roll against when taking a Serious Wound from a spell? Presumably the Common Magic skill roll.

Spell Balance

There are some spells that seem to be severely out of balance with others, and could be open to abuse.

Frostbite

1d3 everywhere? 2 castings of this and most people are taking 2 Serious Wounds.

Speedart

Despite the fact that it only works on one missile, a large Speedart spell can become an instant-kill spell.

Fate

At first glance, this spell appears to make all the other more specific spells redundant, such as Armorsmith's Boon. They have the advantage that if another unexpected skill test is required then it does not "use up" the spell. The errata fixes this imbalance by imposing a 1 melee round time limit on the spell.
