New combat rules
From MRQWiki
Introduction
Here are the rules I use for attack & parry in my version of BRP, which can easily be used in MRQ.
Number of actions and reactions per turn
CA is the maximum number of actions and reactions allowed each turn, but the norm is 1 action and 1 reaction.
When one declares more than 1 action, he gets a -20% penalty on all rolls in the round for each action over the first.
Likewise, it is possible to make more than 1 reaction per turn but each reaction after the first causes a -20% penalty to all subsequent rolls in the turn.
A Reaction must be declared before the attack roll.
Attack
| Attack roll | Result | Potential Damage |
| Failure | Attack fails | None |
| Success | Attack succeeds | Normal |
| Critical Success | Attack succeeds | Double |
Optionally, Damage may be Doubled for Impaling Weapons and Maximized for other weapons.
Parry
A Parry roll is not required if Attack Fails, and doesn't count towards the number of allowed Reactions in the turn.
| Parry roll | Damage Reduction |
| Failure | None |
| Success | AP |
| Critical Success | 2xAP |
Dodge
Dodge is simply resolved as an Attack/Dodge contest.
However, if the defender fails but still achieves the same level of success than the attacker, Potential Damage is not rolled but reduced to its minimum value.
On a Critical Dodge versus Attack failure, the defender has the option to make a Riposte (Free attack).
Fighting with 2 weapons
Fighting with 2 weapons or 1 weapon and a shield allows the following :
- Parry once with each weapon without getting a -20% malus.
- On a Critical parry with either weapon, make a Riposte (Free attack) with the other weapon.
